27. + 28.9.2013 Böju - Kuta

 

Um 9 Uhr heute Morgen holte Dominik, ein Mitarbeiter von Hansruedi, mich ab und 45 Minuten später trafen wir schon am Flughafen in Zürich ein. Kurz darauf hatte ich meinen Koffer abgegeben und fuhr mit dem Shuttle zum Terminal E, wo der A380 der Singapore Airlines schon einsteigebereit stand.
 

At 9 am this morning Dominik, an employee of Hansruedi, drove me to the airport of Zürich where we arrived only 45 minutes later. Shortly thereafter I had dropped off my suitcase and took the shuttle to Terminal E, where the A380 of Singapore Airlines was ready to embark.

Trotz der speditiven Abfertigung starteten wir mit einer halben Stunde Verspätung, die wir aber auf unserem fast 13-stündigen Flug schnell wieder aufgeholt hatten und schlussendlich landeten wir sogar eine halbe Stunde früher als geplant. Ich hatte einen Sitzplatz am Fenster dieses Riesenfliegers über dem rechten Flügel, der ebenso riesig war... Ein gewaltiges Unterhaltungsangebot mit unzähligen Filmen aus diversen Nationen, WiFi und fantastisches Essen, das ich bereits bei meiner Buchung vorbestellt hatte, hielten mich vom Schlafen ab...
 

Despite the rapid procedure we took off with half an hour delay, which we caught up quickly on our nearly 13-hours flight, and finally we landed even half an hour earlier than scheduled. I had a window seat in this giant aircraft just above the right wing, which was just as huge... An enormous choice of entertainment with countless films from various nations, WiFi, and fantastic food, which I had already pre-ordered when I booked my flight, kept me from sleeping...

Die Zeit verging buchstäblich wie im Flug und um 5:30 Uhr landeten wir in Singapur, wo ich mit dem Skytrain vom Terminal 3 ins 2 wechselte und mich gleich ins nächste Flugzeug setzen konnte. Der Abflug erfolgte pünktlich um 7 Uhr und nach 2 1/2 Stunden landeten wir auf Bali - diese Zeit habe ich grösstenteils verschlafen, so müde war ich inzwischen!
 

Time ticked literally away and we landed in Singapore at 5:30 am, where I changed from Terminal 3 to 2 by Skytrain and embarked on the next plane right away. The departure was on time at 7 am and after 2 1/2 hours we landed in Bali - this time I slept most of the time, that tired was I!

Nach einer relativ schnellen Zollabfertigung erreichte ich mit dem Shuttle Service des Kuta Paradiso Hotels (www.kutaparadisohotel.com) nach 10 Minuten das Hotel und legte mich sogleich für 2 Stunden in den Schatten am Pool um Nachschlafen… Hier hatte ich mir ein Zimmer für die ersten 5 Nächte auf Bali gebucht.

  

After a relatively quick custom clearance, I reached the Kuta Paradiso Hotel (www.kutaparadisohotel.com) by shuttle service within 10 minutes and went immediately for a 2-hours nap in the shade by the pool... Here I had booked a room for my first 5 nights on Bali.

Um 17 machte ich mich auf und lief zuerst etwas im lebhaften Kuta umher und bemerkte gleich, dass ich gut daran getan hatte wenig Kleider mitzunehmen: Erstens war es heiss (30 Grad) und zweitens reihte sich ein Geschäft am anderen... Danach spazierte ich dem Strand entlang, wo sich der ganze Ort zu versammeln schien um auf den Sonnenuntergang zu warten.

 

At 5 pm I first strolled along lively Kuta and noticed right away that I had done well not to take too many clothes with me: Firstly it was hot (30 centigrade) and secondly one shop after the other offered their goods... Thereafter I walked along the beach, where the whole town seemed to gather and wait for the sunset.

Als die Sonne um 18:10 Uhr rot im Meer versunken war, machte ich mich auf den Rückweg und setzte mich ins wunderschöne Restaurant HQ am Kuta Beach (das einzige, das ich sichtete, denn die Strasse trennt die Hotels und Restaurants vom Strand). Ich genoss ein Glass Plaga, einen erstaunlich trockenen balinesischen Weisswein aus dem Norden und dazu einen Red Snapper. Schnell hatte ich Freundschaft mit dem Personal geschlossen und obwohl mein Aufenthalt dort kurz war, werde ich sicher nochmals dorthin zurückkehren… zuerst aber sehnte sich mein müder Körper nach einem Bett…

When the sun had set red in the sea at 6:10 pm, I took my way back and sat down in the beautiful restaurant HQ at Kuta Beach (the only one I sighted, because the road separates the hotels and restaurants from the beach). I enjoyed a glass of Plaga, a surprisingly dry Balinese white wine from the north and to a red snapper. I quickly made friends with the staff and even though my stay was short there, I will certainly go back... but first, my tired body yearned for a bed...
