10.10.2013 Candidasa - Sanur

Letzte Nacht habe ich absolut super geschlafen mit dem ständigen Donnern der Wellen - so nah am Meer hab ich hier auf Bali noch nie geschlafen! Um 9 Uhr erwachte ich langsam und strauchelte dann erst mal gegenüber ins Crazy Kangoroo um bei Made einen doppelten Espresso zu trinken, da es das für einmal in meinem Hotel nicht gab... Übrigens hört man meistens dieselben Vornamen hier auf Bali, das hat seine Tradition: Das erste Kind heisst Wayan, Putuh oder Luh, das zweite Made, Kadek oder Nengah, das dritte Komang oder Nyoman und das vierte Ketut... dann beginnt es wieder von vorne! : )

I slept absolutely great last night with the constant roar of the waves - so close to the ocean I haven’t slept before here on Bali! I slowly woke up at 9 am and then first stumbled over to the Crazy Kangaroo to have a double espresso with Made, as for once they didn’t serve it at my hotel... By the way, here in Bali you hear mostly the same names, which has its tradition: The first child is called Wayan, Putuh or Luh, the second Made, Kadek or Nengah, the third Nyoman or Komang and the fourth Ketut... thereafter it starts all over again! : )

The Natia Hotel, Candidasa

Zurück im Hotel genoss ich um 10:30 Uhr wieder ein Nasi Goreng mir einer herrlichen Aussicht. Das eher einfache Hotel The Natia war eh eine gute Wahl: Sehr zentral gelegen, Parkplatz vor dem Haus, schnelles Internet und eine super Aussicht vom Zimmer - was wollte ich noch mehr und das alles zu einem echt guten Preis!

Heute war ich für einmal schon um 11:30 Uhr bereit für die Weiterfahrt der Ostküste entlang Richtung Süden nach Sanur, wo ich ein Hotel für meine letzten 3 Nächte hier auf Bali suchen wollte. Leider gibt es hier in Candidasa keinen wirklichen Strand und auch sonst nichts zu tun...

Back at the hotel at 10:30 am I enjoyed again Nasi Goreng with a beautiful view. The rather simple hotel The Natia was indeed a good choice: Very centrally located, parking in front of the house, fast Internet and a great view from the room - what more could I ask for and all at a really good price!

Today I was ready for once at 11:30 am to continue my journey along the east coast direction south to Sanur, where I wanted to stay for my last 3 nights in Bali. Unfortunatly here in Candidasa there is no real beach and also nothing else to do...

Padang Bai

Goa Lawah

Eine halbe Stunde später machte ich einen Abstecher nach Padang Bai, wo die Fähren nach Lombok und verschiedenen anderen umliegende Inseln fahren. Nochmals eine halbe Stunde später erreichte ich Goa Lawah, einen Tempel in dessen Höhlenheiligtum unzählige Fledermäuse kopfüber hängen! - Warum ich immer so ein Tuch um mich gebunden habe? Die heissen hier Sarung und sind für alle obligatorisch, die einen Tempel betreten, sie werden den Touristen jeweils am Eingang ausgeliehen.

Half an hour later I made a side trip to Padang Bai, where the ferries go to Lombok and various other surrounding islands. Another half an hour later I reached Goa Lawah, a temple in which cave shrine countless bats are hanging upside down! - Why am I always wearing such a towel around me? They call it sarung here and everybody has to wear it when entering a temple, tourists can borrow them at the entrance.

Hotel Inna Sindbu Beach, Sanur

Dann führte eine zweispurige Strasse im Schnelltempo nach Sanur, das ich um 14 Uhr nach total 70 km erreichte. Ich wollte meine letzten Tage hier am Strand verbringen und entschied mich dann schnell fürs Hotel Inna Sindbu Beach (http://www.innasindhubeach.com) , wo mir Simpen ein Zimmer gab, von wo aus man durch die Bäume sogar ein bisschen das Meer sieht – eine echte Seltenheit hier, da die meisten Hotels in einem Garten versteckt sind!

Ich machte mich gleich auf an den Strand, wo ich die milde Sonne mit abkühlender Brise genoss… Darauf packte ich wieder einmal meinen Koffer aus, um zu sehen, was ich an sauberen Kleidern noch bei mir hatte, anderenfalls waren die Geschäfte ja nicht weit!? ; )

Then there was a two-lane road leading to Sanur at a quick pace, which I reached by 2 pm after a total of 70 km. I wanted to spend my last days here on the beach and therefore decided for the Inna Sindbu Beach Hotel (http://www.innasindhubeach.com) in no time, where Simpen gave me a room, from where you can even see the ocean through the trees - a real rarity here, as most hotels are hidden in a garden!

I went straight to the beach, where I enjoyed the mild sun with a cooling breeze... Then I unpacked once again my suitcase to see what I still had on clean clothes, otherwise the stores were not so far!? ; )

Sanur

Um 18 Uhr machte ich mich auf Sanur via Strandpromenade etwas zu erkunden... Wirklich genial, ein Fussweg trennt die vielen Hotels und Restaurants vom Strand und die verkehrsüberladene Strasse ist für einmal weit weg! Das Meer lädt übrigens auch hier zum Baden ein, da ein Riff vor den grossen Wellen schützt.

At 6 pm I went to explore some of Sanur via the beach promenade... Really awesome, a footpath separates all the hotels and restaurants from the beach and the overloaded traffic road for once is far away! The ocean here does also invite for a swim, as a reef protects from the big waves.

Um 19 Uhr setzte ich mich ins Restaurant Mango Beach an einen Tisch im Sand, nur einige Schritte von meinem Hotel, und genoss einen gegrillten Snapper - klar durfte der Balinesische Weisswein nicht fehlte und dazu spielte eine Reggaeband! : )

At 7 pm I took a table on the sand in the restaurant Mango Beach, just a few steps from my hotel, and enjoyed a grilled snapper – of course a glass of the Balinese white wine was not missing and moreover, there was a reggae band playing! : )
