5.10.2013 Ubud – Lovina

 

Heute Morgen erwachte ich bereits um 9 Uhr nach einem guten und tiefen Schlaf. Eine Stunde später genoss ich ein herrliches Frühstück und danach die coole Badewanne! : ) Dann stand wieder einmal Packen auf dem Programm... um 12 Uhr checkte ich aus dem Kori Ubud Resort & Spa, belud meinen Mietwagen und verliess Ubud Richtung Nordosten.
 

This morning I woke up already at 9 am after a good and deep sleep. An hour later, I enjoyed a lovely breakfast and thereafter my cool bathtub! : ) Then I had to pack my belongings once again... by noon I checked out of the Kori Ubud Resort & Spa, loaded my rental car and left Ubud direction northeast.

Im Schritttempo ging es aus der Städtchen Ubud und nur ein paar Kilometer und eine Viertelstunde später erreichte ich schon die erste Touristenattraktion, die 600 Jahre alte von Menschen geschaffene Elefantenhöhle in Goa Gajah.
 

In walking pace I drove out of town and only a few kilometres and a quarter of an hour later I already reached the first attraction, the 600-year-old handmade elephant cave in Goa Gajah.

Eigentlich gab es unterwegs noch viele Tempel und Paläste zu besichtigen, aber es war schlicht zu heiss, so dass mein nächstes Ziel das 25 km entfernte Tampaksiring war… Hier stattete ich Gunung Kawi, das Tal des Pakerisan mit den Königsgräbern und wunderschönen Reisfeldern, sowie Tirtha Empul, das Badeheiligtum, einen Besuch ab.
 

Actually, there were many more temples and palaces to pay a visit to on the way, but it were simply too hot, so my next goal was Tampaksiring, about 25 km away... Here I visited Gunung Kawi, the valley of Pakerisan with the royal tombs and magnificent rice fields, as well as Tirtha Empul, the holy bath.

 

 

 

Danau Batur

Um 15 Uhr hatte ich genug von Schwitzen und Kultur und sehnte mich nach frischer Luft und Meer... ich kühlte meinen kleinen Suzuki runter und fuhr weiter Richtung Norden zum Vulkan Gunung Batur. Endlich ging es etwas voran und eine halbe Stunde später befand ich mich in Penotokan (1073m) mit etwas dunstiger Sicht auf die Vulkane Gunung Batur (1717m) und Gunung Abang (2153m) sowie den Kratersee Danau Batur - endlich normale Temperaturen! : )
 

At 3 pm I had enough of sweating and culture and longed for fresh air and the ocean... I cooled down my little Suzuki and drove further north to the volcano Gunung Batur. Finally I got on well and half an hour later I reached Penotokan (1073m) with a bit of a hazy view of the volcanoes Gunung Batur (1717m) and Gunung Abang (2153m) as well as of the crater lake Danau Batur – finally there were normal temperatures! : )

 

 

 

Lovina

 

 

Weiter ging es ca. 10 km auf dem Kraterrand entlang und dann ca. 35 km Richtung Nordwesten im Regen 1000 m eine Passstrasse hinunter an die Nordküste Balis. Nun waren es noch 20 km Richtung Westen entlang der Küste nach Lovina, meinem heutigen Tagesziel. Auch hier sieht man die Küste selten oder nie, so dass ich meinen Plan rund um die Inseln zu fahren langsam etwas verdränge... Um 18 Uhr erreichte ich Lovina und kam gerade rechtzeitig zum Sonnenuntergang an den schwarzen Strand. Danach checkte ich im Hotel Rambutan (www.rambutan.org) ein, das sich mitten im kleinen, schmucken Ort und nur einige Schritte vom Strand befindet.
 

I drove along the crater rim for about 10 km, then north-west about 35 km in the rain 1000 m down a mountain pass to the north coast of Bali. Well, now it was another 20 km towards west along the coast to Lovina, my destination for today. Again, you rarely or never can see the coast, so I slowly get away from my plan to surround the island... At 6 pm I arrived at Lovina and its black beach just in time for sunset. Thereafter I checked in the hotel Rambutan (www.rambutan.org), which is located in midst of the small, quaint village and only a few steps from the beach.

Nachdem ich meinen Willkommensdrink im Restaurant am Pool eingenommen und mich im hübschen Zimmer eingerichtet hatte, schlenderte ich die Gasse hinunter zum Meer und beschloss im Restaurant Astina einen gegrillten Padi-Padi zu verspeisen - natürlich genoss ich ein Glas des herrlichen balinesischen Weisswein dazu! Todmüde von der anstrengenden Reise, immerhin hatte ich heute 100 km hinter mich gelegt, schlief ich schon vor 10 Uhr ein…

After having had my welcome drink at the poolside restaurant and installed myself in the pretty room, I strolled down the alley to the sea and decided to have a grilled Padi Padi at the Astina restaurant - of course I enjoyed a glass of the delicious Balinese white wine with it! Dead tired from the exhausting trip, after all I had driven 100 km today, I fell asleep already before 10 pm...
