Nach der ganzen Flasche Chardonnay gestern Abend habe ich herrlich geschlafen und bin heute Morgen um 8 Uhr aufgewacht. Es war Ebbe und der schwarze Strand schien etwas breiter als sonst, so ging ich erst einmal eine Stunde joggen und im Meer schwimmen. Den Strand kannte ich ja schon, nur ist das Hotel Padma Sari am andern Ende von Lovina, so rannte ich nun den westlichen Teil des Strandes ab. Beim Stretchen lernte ich Dan kennen, der mich mit seinem Boot im Hotel abholte und zum Korallenriff fuhr, wo ich schnorcheln ging - so habe ich meine Schnorchelausrüstung doch nicht vergebens mitgenommen! : )

 

After the whole bottle of Chardonnay last night I slept heavenly and woke up this morning at 8 am. It was low tide and the black beach seemed a little wider than usual, so I first went for an hour’s run and swim in the sea. I already knew the beach here; just the Padma Sari Hotel is at the other end of Lovina, so this time I ran along the western part of the beach. During stretching I met Dan, who picked me up at the hotel with his boat and drove me out to the coral reef where I went snorkeling - so I didn’t bring my snorkel gear with me in vain! : )

Um 10:30 Uhr war ich zurück im Hotel und ging erst einmal frühstücken... danach konnte ich dem schönen Pool nicht widerstehen und hüpfte für eine kurze Abkühlung hinein...
 

At 10:30 am I was back at the hotel and went for breakfast... thereafter I could not resist the beautiful pool and jumped in for a quick dip...

Nach einem äusserst aktiven Morgen machte ich mich gemütlich bereit für die Weiterreise, checkte aus dem Hotel aus, mein Gepäck wurde ins Auto geladen und kurz vor 13 Uhr fuhr ich dann endlich los der Nordküste entlang Richtung Osten. Im Schneckentempo ging es durch die grossen Orte S-Paneanbuleleng und Kubutambahan, im letzteren machte ich eine Stippvisite im Pura Meduwe Karang, einem Fruchtbarkeitstempel mit einem Relief eines Fahrradfahrer - das erzählt sicher von früheren Zeiten, denn ich habe bisher nur einen solch Wahnsinnigen gesehen, der sich bei diesem Verkehr mit dem Fahrrad auf die Strassen wagt! : )
 

After a very active morning I made myself ready for the continuation of my trip, I checked out of the hotel, my luggage was loaded into the car and just before 1 pm finally I was ready to drive along the north coast towards the east. At a snail's pace it went through the big towns of S-Paneanbuleleng and Kubutambahan, in the latter I made a flying visit to Pura Meduwe Karang, a fertility temple with a relief of a cyclist - which must tell from earlier times, because I have only seen one of such a madman, who dared to cycle in this traffic! : )

Weiter östlich lockerte sich der Verkehr merklich und teilweise sieht man sogar die Küste! Um 15 Uhr fand ich doch tatsächlich ein Restaurant am Meer, das Toyabali in Tulamben, wo ich mir einen Rast gönnte und einen nahrhaften, dicken Fruchtsaft zu mir nahm. Hier hat es Kiesstrände und viele Tauchresorts. Der höchste Vulkan Balis, der Gunung Agung (3142 m), versteckte sich stets hinter Wolken...
 

Further east, the traffic eased noticeably and sometimes you even can spot the coast! Around 3 pm I actually found a seaside restaurant, the Toyabali in Tulamben, where I had a short rest and a nutritious, thick fruit juice. Here there are pebble beaches and many dive resorts. The highest volcano in Bali, Gunung Agung (3142 m), was always hiding behind clouds...

Nach einer weiteren halben Stunde Fahrt erreichte ich Amed, von wo aus sich der Gunung Agung fast wolkenlos präsentierte! : )
 

After another half hour’s drive I arrived at Amed, from where the Gunung Agung presented itself almost cloudless! : )

Nochmals ein paar Kilometer und eine halbe Stunde später kam ich in Tirta Gangga an, wo ich der königliche Badestätte, die heute ein Freibad ist, einen kurzen Besuch abstattete.
 

Again a few kilometers and half an hour later I reached Tirta Gangga, where I paid the royal bathing place, which is a public pool today, a short visit.

In Amlapura, an der Südostküste Balis machte ich meinen Fotostopp in Taman Ujung, dem Wasserschloss, bevor es dann zu meinem nächsten Tagesziel Candidasa ging...

Um 18 Uhr, nach total 160 km heute und bevor es dunkel wurde, erreichte ich Candidasa und fuhr erst einmal durch den Ort um mir einen Überblick zu verschaffen... wie all diese Orte auf Bali, muss ich erst einmal die Hotels und Restaurants im Detail ansehen um Gefallen zu finden... Im Hotel The Natia (www.thenatia.com) fand ich ein hübsches Zimmer direkt am Pool und Meer und Darma offerierte mir einen Spezialpreis - klar griff ich zu! : ) Übrigens, was schon lange erwähnen wollte und auch echt nachahmbar finde ist, dass in allen Hotels wird Trinkwasser inklusive bereit gestellt!
 

Nachdem ich mich eingerichtet und mich für Ausflugsmöglichkeiten informiert hatte, schlenderte ich der Strasse entlang und entschied im Restaurant Crazy Kangoroo den angepriesenen Mahi-Mahi auszuprobieren - superfein, ich habe bis jetzt eigentlich nur fantastisch gegessen hier auf Bali!

At 6 pm, after a total of 160 km today and just before it got dark, I reached Candidasa and drove through the place to get an overview... like in all those places in Bali, I first have to see all the hotels and restaurants in detail to find favour... At The Natia (www.thenatia.com) I found a nice room right by the pool and the sea and Darma offered me a special price – of course I had to take the chance! : ) By the way, what I wanted to mention already a long time ago and also find worth imitating is that in all the hotels drinking water is provided and inclusive!
 

After I had installed myself in my room and informed myself about excursions here, I strolled along the road and decided to try the today’s special, the Mahi-Mahi, at the Crazy Kangaroo restaurant – very delicious, in fact I have had just fantastic meals here in Bali!
