Letzte Nacht habe ich doch tatsächlich 10 Stunden geschlafen - kein Wunder nach den gestrigen Strapazen! Um 9 Uhr erwachte ich und machte mich gleich an meinen Blog.... um 10:30 Uhr schliesslich, noch stets im Pyjama, begab ich mich zum Frühstück ins Restaurant am Pool und verzehrte einen Teller Nasi Goreng. Der Hotelmanager Kadek gesellte sich zu mir und wir hatten eine interessante Unterhaltung über Politik und was sonst noch so die Menschen versucht zu beeinflussen...

Last night I actually slept 10 hours - no wonder after the exertions yesterday! I woke up at 9 clock and first worked on my blog... at 10:30 am finally, still in my pyjama, I went for breakfast at the restaurant by the pool and had a plate of nasi goreng. The hotel manager Kadek joined me and we had interesting conversations about politics and other things that try to influence people...

Pura Tanah Lot

Um 12:30 checkte ich aus dem Hotel Coco und da ich mich schon mal im Tempelareal befand, schoss ich noch ein paar Fotos... auch vom Restaurant Melasti, wo ich doch gestern Abend die Aussicht nur mittels der Brandung hören konnte! : )

At 12:30 pm I checked out of the hotel Coco and ever since I was in the temple area, I shot a few more photos... also from the restaurant Melasti, where I could hear the views only through the surge last night! : )

Um 13 Uhr trat ich dann endlich meine Weiterreise Richtung Norden an. Heute standen einige Besichtigungen auf dem Programm aber schon bald hatte ich mich wieder in diesem Strassenchaos ohne Wegweiser verfahren und irrte eine Stunde herum... Keine Ahnung wo ich gelandet war, wahrscheinlich mitten in Denpasar!? Auch heute nutzte alles Nachfragen nicht, denn die meisten Leute kannten nur gerade ihren Umkreis? : ( Dann plötzlich war mein nächstes Ziel Pura Taman Ayun ausgeschildert und darauf fragte ich an jeder Strassenkreuzung nach um sicher zu gehen! Um 14:30Uhr schliesslich erreichte ich endlich Pura Taman Ayun, einen Staatstempel mit Lotosteich, in Mengwi (eigentlich nur etwa 15 km entfernt von meiner Ausgangslage!).

At 1 am I finally continued my journey direction north. Today, lots of sightseeing was scheduled but soon I was lost again in this chaos of streets without road signs and wandered around for one hour... No idea where I had landed, probably in the middle of Denpasar!? Even today asking for directions was no help at all, because most people probably only know their way around within their surroundings? : ( Then, suddenly, my next goal Pura Taman Ayun was signed out and thereafter I asked at every street intersection just to make sure! At 2:30 pm I finally reached Pura Taman Ayun, a state temple with lotus ponds in Mengwi (actually only 15 km away from my starting point!).

Danach ging es weiter Richtung Norden durch Reisfelder und Tempel und eigentlich hatte ich vor den Muskatnusswald mit den Langschwanzmakaken (die üblichen Affen hier) zu besuchen, aber als ich nachfragte, war ich schon lange vorbeigerast - gut so, denn es war eh schon spät und ich wollte mich nicht nochmals in der Dunkelheit verirren!

Nun ging es bergauf an vielen Dörfern und ihren Tempeln vorbei und der Himmel wurde immer dunkler - nein, es war nicht schon Nacht, aber gleich setzte der Regen ein... Im Regen kam ich um 15:30 Uhr in Bedugul an, wo ich Pura Ulun Danu Bratan, eine buddhistisch-hinduistische Tempelanlage am Danau Bratan (Kratersee), einen Besuch abstattete. Im Regen und der Höhe von 1200 m war es bedeutend kühler und für einmal musste ich keinen Eintritt bezahlen, sonst ist er zwischen 50 Rp bis Fr 1.50... : )

Thereafter I drove further direction north through rice fields and temples and intended to visit the nutmeg forest with the long-tailed macaques (the usual monkeys here), but when I inquired, I had already passed it - good thing, because it was already late and I did not want to get lost in the dark again like yesterday!

Well, now it went uphill passing many villages and their temples and the sky was getting darker - no, it was not night yet, but it started to rain... In the rain at 3:30 pm I arrived at Bedugul, where I paid a visit to Pura Ulun Danu Bratan, a Hindu-Buddhist temple complex at Danau Bratan (crater lake). In the rain and the altitude of 1200 m it was significantly cooler and for once I had not to pay any entrance fee, otherwise it is between USD 0.50 to 1.50... : )

Darauf ging es nochmals eine Passstrasse hinauf, von wo man normalerweise eine herrliche Aussicht auf den Tambingasee geniessen kann... heute war es aber sehr benebelt dafür hatte es viele Affen!

Then I climbed up another mountain pass (by car of course!), where you usually can enjoy a magnificent view of the Lake of Tambinga... but today it was very hazy but on the other hand there were a lot of monkeys!

Passabwärts Richtung Nordküste war es wieder trocken und nach einer Stunde Fahrt erreichte ich Air Terjun Gitgit, einen Wasserfall mit natürlichem Badebecken im Grünen.

Down the pass to the north coast it was dry again and after an hour of driving I reached Terjun Air Gitgit, a waterfall with a natural swimming pool in the countryside.

Um 17:30 Uhr, eine halbe Stunde vor Sonnenuntergang, kam ich an der Nordküste an und musste tanken. Zur Vorsicht fragte ich mal, ob es Richtung Osten Hotels gab... Der nette Tankwart riet mir nach Lovina zu fahren, was ich auch tat, denn ich wollte nicht nochmals so im Dunkeln herumirren wie gestern Abend! So fuhr ich die 20 km Richtung Westen und erreichte um 18 Uhr - wieder gerade rechtzeitig zum Sonnenuntergang - das wunderschöne Hotel Padma Sari in Lovina (www.padmasariresort.com), das ich mir bei meinem letzten Aufenthalt hier vor 3 Tagen schon ins Auge gefasst hatte. Zudem machte mir Zul einen Spezialpreis - Blog sei Dank!

At 5:30, half an hour before sunset, I arrived on the north coast and had to refuel. As a precaution, I asked if there were any hotel eastwards... The nice attendant advised me to go to Lovina, which I did, because I did not want to wander around in the dark again as last night! So I drove 20 km to the west and reached the beautiful Padma Sari Hotel in Lovina (www.padmasariresort.com) at 6 am - again just in time for sunset – which I had already contemplated during my stay here 3 days ago. In addition, Zul made me a special price – thanks to my blog!

Nach 120 km anstrengender Fahrt hatte ich keine Lust mehr einen Schritt aus dem Hotel zu machen und nachdem ich mich in meinem gediegenen Zimmer eingerichtet hatte, setzte ich mich ins Hotelrestaurant mit Blick über den Pool und das Meer. Ich bestellte mir heute zur Feier des Tages gleich eine ganze Flasche balinesischen Weisswein, diesmal einen Chardonnay... dazu verzehrte ich den besten gegrillten Thunfisch meines Leben! - Vielleicht war der Grund meines späten Tagesanfanges und der Verfahrerei, dass ich hier endete?

After 120 km of an exhausting trip, I had no desire to take any step out of the hotel and after having installed myself in my tasteful room, I went down to the hotel restaurant overlooking the pool and the sea. Today I ordered a whole bottle of Balinese white wine, this time a Chardonnay, just to mark the occasion... I had grilled tuna - the best ever! - Maybe the reason for my late day and getting lost was to I end up here?
